GitHub billing

Prerequisites

A GitHub organization on the enhanced billing platform. Open github.com/organizations/<your-org>/billing: if it shows the new usage pages rather than a deprecation notice, you are already on it.
An Organization Owner, to install the app.

Connect

Install the LevelFour Billing app

Open Connect Providers, select GitHub billing, and click Install App. GitHub opens its install page for the LevelFour Billing app.

Choose the organization to install on and approve Administration: read. This is a read-only grant: it does not give LevelFour access to your code.

Confirm the organization

Back in LevelFour, confirm the organization name under Connect Providers. Click Connect.

Confirming it worked

The connection moves to Connected. Your first data appears within a day.

Rotating or removing access

There is no separate credential to rotate. To change which organization is connected, disconnect and reinstall.

Removing access

Open github.com/organizations/<your-org>/settings/installations, find the LevelFour Billing app, and click Uninstall. The connection on LevelFour's side moves to disconnected within a minute.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	What to do
The install picker only shows a personal account	You are not an Owner of the target GitHub organization. Ask an Owner to install, or ask them to grant you the role
The connection is refused after install	Your organization is not yet on the enhanced billing platform. GitHub migrated all enterprises and Team-plan organizations by March 2025; check `github.com/organizations/<your-org>/billing` for the deprecation notice
Some spend has no repository attached	Expected for line items like seats or shared storage that are not tied to a single repository
