GitLab billing

GitLab publishes no currency for compute minutes or credits, and Ultimate has no list seat price. This connector prices your usage from the rates you enter. It will not reflect anything your contract prices differently.

Prerequisites

A GitLab top-level group.
An Owner of that group, to create the personal access token.
Your rate per seat per month, and, if you buy GitLab Credits, your rate per credit, in USD.

Connect

Create a personal access token in GitLab

As an Owner of the top-level group, create a personal access token with the read_api scope.

Add it to LevelFour

Open Connect Providers, select GitLab billing, and paste the token, your top-level group path, your GitLab host (gitlab.com unless you self-host), your rate per seat per month, and, if it applies, your rate per credit. Click Add Personal access token.

Confirming it worked

The connection moves to Connected. Your first data appears within a day.

Rotating or removing access

Create a new personal access token in GitLab, paste it into Connect Providers, then revoke the old token.

Removing access

Disconnect GitLab billing under Connect Providers, then revoke the token from GitLab.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	What to do
Spend does not match your invoice	This is an estimate priced from the rates you entered, including seats, which GitLab has no API for. Update the rates if your contract changes
The token only sees part of the group's usage	Confirm the personal access token belongs to a member who is an Owner of the top-level group itself, not just a subgroup or project
The token stops working	Personal access tokens expire. Create a new one with `read_api`, update it under Connect Providers, and revoke the old one
